We all want to feel well, have vitality, and be free from pain. Too often, we are bombarded by advertisements for drugs that aim to relieve common problems. Some offer relief and others add toxins to our already weakened immune system.

Many complementary therapies are now commonly used to relieve stress and tension and help us to function better. Alina Blakesley would like to introduce people to Reflexology, one such complementary therapy that can help the body’s own innate healing to do its work. There are 7,200 nerve endings in each foot. Perhaps this fact explains why we feel so much better when our feet are worked on using Reflexology.

This ancient healing art is based on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all the organs, glands and parts of the body. Reflexology is a unique method of applying pressure with thumb and fingers on these reflex areas. "Not only is Reflexology an enjoyable experience for most clients, it's also a healthy, drug-free way of helping the body heal itself," states Boothbay Harbor resident Alina Blakesley, a certified Reflexologist, owner of Harborside Foot Reflexology & Nail Care.

The “Introduction to Reflexology” workshop will explain the art and science of Reflexology, its history, will include techniques and case studies, and discuss current practices in Maine, Nationally, and Internationally. Anyone interested in learning about this non-evasive therapy is invited to attend.
